I use IE7 on Vista Home Premium
Under
Tool>InternetOptions> Advanced tab>Security
I have it set to empty temporary internet files when browser is closed, but it is not doing so.
What might I be doing wrong?

Method 1:
Clear the Temporary Internet Files folder manually.
a.     Click on Start and type%temp% in the search field.
b.     Open the Temporary Internet Files folder and delete all the files.
Method 2:
You should try to Reset the Internet Explorer settings and delete the Temporary Internet Files folder once and they check on this setting.
To use the Reset Internet Explorer Settings feature from Control Panel, follow these steps:
a.     Exit all programs, including Internet Explorer (if it is running).
b.      If you use Windows Vista, click Start, type the following command in the Start Search box,  and then press ENTER:
 inetcpl.cpl
 The Internet Options dialog box appears.
c.      Click the Advanced tab.
d.     Under Reset Internet Explorer settings, click Reset.
Then click Reset again.
e.     When Internet Explorer finishes resetting the settings, click Close in the Reset Internet   Explorer Settings dialog box.
f.       Start Internet Explorer again.
After resetting the settings, set the Internet Explorer to ‘Empty Temporary Internet Files folder’ from the advanced settings.

Run CHKDSK

• Go to the Start button.
• In the Search box, type "cmd" (without quotes) and press Enter.
• At the command prompt, type "chkdsk /r /f" (without quotes) and press Enter.
• Reboot your computer.

An error might pop up:

"Access denied as you do not have significant privileges. You have to invoke this utility in elevated mode."

If you receive the above error message, it means you are not logged into you computer as an Administrator. If that's the case, follow these steps to run the command prompt in elevated mode:

• Go to theStart button.
• Go to "All Programs > Accessories" and right click on "Command Prompt".
• Select "Run as Administrator".
• In the Search box, type "cmd" (without quotes) and press Enter.
• At the command prompt, type "chkdsk /r /f" (without quotes) and press Enter.
• Reboot your computer.
