Are there different types of administrator authority in Windows 7?
I have 2 new systems both running Windows 7 Professional and both are highly maintained.
One is a desktop that was built for me by a local shop and one is a Lenovo laptop with the pre-installed system.
I need to run similar application software on each.
When I installed my applications to the desktop, I had no problems at all.
Everything was allowed and I had to click OK in a reasonable number of places.
For example when I want to edit the hosts file, I just edit it and my authority allows me to do that.
But the laptop is different.
Even though I have administrator authority, I have had to use "run as administrator" a few times and for example when I want to edit the hosts file, I need to start a special notepad session done that way.
When I tried to install
SQL Server Management Studio, it failed because of authorities and I had to execute the setup the same way.
I'd really like to understand what the difference is and once I do, correct it if I can.
(It seems that there may also be some less visible byproducts of this difference when I try to run some apps.)

with UAC you have standard suer rights.
Look at the file permissions of the host and you see that standard users can open the file, but can't save it.
