Tech Support: After Windows 7 SP1 Store to Ram (STR) sleep mode S3 does not work

After Windows 7 SP1 Store to Ram (STR) sleep mode S3 does not work

S3 STR sleep mode does not resume after applying Windows 7 SP1.
It worked up to SP1.
The power supply starts normally, screen remains black, and the HD activity light does not flicker.

Also, using the front panel power switch does not recover.  The only means of recovery, so far, is to remove the power plug for 10 seconds and then plug it back in.
Note: this is a sleep (S3) STR problem, not a hibernation problem and probably is a function of SATA Raid 0 configuration
System:
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA P55A UD4P.  Award BIOS version F14, date 9/16/2010
CPU: I5-750.  OS Windows 7 Professional +SP1
Hard drives: 2 WD Caviar Black 500MB SATA-2 drives in a Raid 0 configuration on Intel driver chip.
Video card ATI Radeon HD 5570.  Updated driver:  1/25/11 Ver 8.821.0.0
Memory: 2x2GB Patriot 1600LL Series

Additional information:
Critical Event 41 – “The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first.
This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.” (because I removed and reapplied power).  This event was probably caused
by recycling power.
Powercfg /a - The following sleep states are available on this system: Standby (S3)
