After the latest update, My windows 7 will not start up fully [Solved]

After the latest update, My windows 7 will not start up fully

Like the title says, after the latest update, window 7 will not start up fully, and shunts me off to the windows repair option.  The only problem is, windows repair can't repair the problem.  I cannot do a system restore as i forgot to make restore points
after i updated from vista.  Anyone know how to fix this problem?

Do you get any error messages when you attempt to boot? 
 
Step 1: Boot the computer in safe mode.
To do this, follow the steps below:
Access the advanced boot options menu by turning on your computer and pressing the F8 key before
Windows starts.
On the advanced boot options menu select safe mode
Advanced startup options (including safe mode)

Step 2: Try to remove the pending update via Windows Recovery Environment (WIN RE) command prompt
Access system recovery options; please see the steps mentioned in the link below

a)   Access advanced boot options menu by pressing 
F8 key when computer restarts>On the Advanced Boot Options screen >Select repair your computer option
 
b)   Now select  command prompt recovery tool
c)   At the command prompt type 
Dism /online /get-packages and then press enter.
This will produce a list of installed updates and packages.  They will look like this:
Package Identity: WUClient-SelfUpdate-Core-TopLevel~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~7.4.7600.226
State: Installed
Release Type: Feature Pack                                    
Install Time: 9/25/2009 12:02 AM               
Find the most recent one and then make a note of the package name.

d)   Then run the command: dism /online /remove-package /PackageName:WUClient-SelfUpdate-Core-TopLevel~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~7.4.7600.226 (name of update from previous step)
 
Restart the computer and test to see if the issue persists
 
Note:System restore points are also automatically createdwhen major changes are done to the system.

If you failed to fix it, another option is to call Microsoft and walk through the process with a technician. To do this, dial "1-800-936-5700". Explain the error that you received and the steps in the update process during which it was displayed. The technician will be able to walk through the steps from getting a new product key to finishing the installation.
