All of a sudden one of my word files won't open I get a conversion dialog

All of a sudden one of my word files won't open.
When I try to open it I get that damnable window which presumably does some kind of a file conversion after you select Text Encoding as either being Windows,
MS-Dos, or "Other" and then it lists a litany of world codes none of which converts the gibberish which shows up when I open the file.
I hope you follow this because I can't open the file in english which happens to be what I used to create the file.

I'm using MS Office Home and Student 2010 which includes MS Word 2010.
The file in question which is attached was originally created with the 2010 version.

I am using a HP pavilion dv6 notebook.
It came with windows 7.
I updated it to a windows 8 and after that the ATI mobility radeon 5000 series driver stopped working, so I installed a new one and restarted my system.
The start-up reached the enter your password
side and after entering my password my laptop screen went blank, but I found out that my system is still working because I could here the windows sound.
I connected the laptop to the TV and it displayed on the TV but the laptop screen is still blank, I removed
the connection to the TV and it is still the same thing.
Please help!!!

I installed this Windows8.1-KB2919355-x64 with no errors... when I reboot after update installation request, I log on and now I am having issue with the new windows start button doing nothing when pressed and when I hover right upper corner or right

when I start any application the application starts and the desktop disappear I see only the background desktop and then comes back and freezes the desktop...

Click on the Start button on the Taskbar.

I have two systems running Win 7 64 bit.
When I reomote from system 1 (Dell Optiplex 990) to system 2 (Dell Optiplex 780), it works well.
My icons get re-arranged, which is not the main isuse.
The big problem is the system I am remoting in to also has the
open app windows shrunk down to fit the rez of the system with a smaller display.
OK, fine.
However, after I set the app window sizes back to how I like it and move them around, the system will eventually go in to sleep mode and then the app windows shrink
back down in size and stack one on top another in the upper left corner.
All the same size as if they are trying to fit in to a smaller screen.
I stretch them back out and position them where I want them.
They go back again afte the system sleeps.
I have rebooted,
powered off, nada. This may have an easy fix, but pressed for time, so thought I would ask here to start.
Much appreciate any assists!

I have a list of dividends, some of them debits, some of them credits.
The list is broken down by sub-accounts.
I need the aggregate total of the Stock Position's dividend for a given date.
Here's what it looks like...

Basically what I need to do, is if there's multiple positions of the same stock symbol, I need them to be aggregated for each particular date, only showing a total amount of shares for that position (SPAN in this example), and showing a total amount of
the dividend.
So in this example, it would aggregate the SPAN position to 413 shares with the amount of -.29.
All the while, all of the symbols like BKCC, BKYF, and OSM, that don't have multiple entries will simply stay the same.
Please help me with this!!!!

I need a macro written that will bring about the following change to the above list...
Basically, I need to continue to see the list of stocks and their dividends, but if there are multiple
dividends for the same stock on the same date (in this example SPAN on 4/2), I need them to be aggregated into one position in the list.
The "answer" should look like this...

Like the title says, after the latest update, window 7 will not start up fully, and shunts me off to the windows repair option. The only problem is, windows repair can't repair the problem. I cannot do a system restore as i forgot to make restore points

Step 1: Boot the computer in safe mode.
To do this, follow the steps below:
Access the advanced boot options menu by turning on your computer and pressing the F8 key before
Windows starts.
On the advanced boot options menu select safe mode
Advanced startup options (including safe mode)

Step 2: Try to remove the pending update via Windows Recovery Environment (WIN RE) command prompt

a)   Access advanced boot options menu by pressing
F8 key when computer restarts>On the Advanced Boot Options screen >Select repair your computer option

This will produce a list of installed updates and packages. They will look like this:
Package Identity: WUClient-SelfUpdate-Core-TopLevel~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~7.4.7600.226
State: Installed
Release Type: Feature Pack
Install Time: 9/25/2009 12:02 AM
Find the most recent one and then make a note of the package name.

d)   Then run the command: dism /online /remove-package /PackageName:WUClient-SelfUpdate-Core-TopLevel~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~7.4.7600.226 (name of update from previous step)

Restart the computer and test to see if the issue persists

Note:System restore points are also automatically createdwhen major changes are done to the system.

Dear Sirs,

Two days ago (December 16, 2013) I downloaded Windows 8.1.
Since then, my computer makes a noise every few minutes as if it was going to shutdown, but it does not.
For a second, it seems like it is going to shut down, but I can continue with my work.

In the task bar, at the bottom of the screen, it seems to appear a message when this noise comes up, but it disappears so quickly that I cannot read or know what it says.

I will appreciate if you inform me of the reason why this fake powering off happens.

I called a while ago, and in order to reinstall Windows 8, I would have to back up all my files to another device or external hard drive, and reinstall all my software, which it is impossible since I do not have CDs to do it.
